Day 1: Talking about one of the games we went through today, describing how I had discussed mental imaging with my partner prior to the activity by describing how we can think of a novel image i.e. a gold mountain by using the words "gold" and "mountain" to conjure the image of the combination. Linguistics are what make us what we are as human beings and using this valuable skill effectively and to its fullest extent is imperative to the smooth functioning of any organization. Communication is in my humble opinion just a transfer of ideas (images) from one mind to another, and I think that this exercise was a good demonstration of how imperfect this can be from one person to the other, much less across groups of people. I am impressed with how we did however, and Bailey's drawing was shown to the class as a work of art, at which point I had to interject to add that I like to curate art. Laughs were had by my fraternity brothers in the crowd. Good times all round. Looking forward to tomorrow.
Day 2: Today was absolutely fantastic. Areas we could have improved in in terms of efficiency could have resulted in a more successful yield but I'm pretty satisfied nonetheless. I'm especially happy with the amount of engagement that I personally had with the locals, I felt that it was an invaluable experience that I will remember for years to come. I am looking forward to more practical games like this one where we use real skills, hard and soft, to make real things happen in the real world, and outside of our comfort zone! Who knew a squeegee could make so much happen!!
